Logan Vath

Born and raised in western Nebraska and now based in Norfolk, Virginia, Logan Vath is an award-winning singer-songwriter whose music carries the landscape of his upbringing with it—the Sandhills, open plains, distant Rockies, and the stillness between them.

A Navy veteran, Logan began writing and playing music in high school and continued carrying a guitar with him during his four years of service. After leaving the Navy, he turned his attention more fully toward songwriting, releasing Better Man or Ghost in 2013, followed by In the Presence of the Kingdom and Lost on Leaving. His songs have since appeared on Spotify’s Roots on the Rise and Fresh Folk playlists and Apple’s Breaking Singer/Songwriter.

Logan’s writing is introspective and deeply connected to place, often asking more questions than it answers. His songs move through memory, relationships, home, distance and change with the eye of a storyteller and the restraint of someone comfortable leaving a few things unresolved.

In 2026, Logan was named a Kerrville New Folk Winner, after previously becoming a finalist at the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival and Rocky Mountain Songwriter Festival and winning C.F. Martin’s “Lifespan” songwriting competition. His performances have included the 30A Songwriters Festival and an invitation to perform on the Foundation Stage at the Newport Folk Festival.

Now living in Norfolk with his wife and two boys, Logan continues writing and recording new material while performing select shows around Virginia and nationally. Recent releases include “THANKS” and “Opening Day,” with more new music on the way.

The WINDe Connection

I first met Logan in 2020, when I filmed him and his band performing at the Sandler Center in Virginia Beach as part of WHRO’s Out of the Box Emerging Artists series.

After the COVID outbreak, when I started the WHO House Concerts series, Logan became part of that story too. On a cool evening in early December 2021, he was the very first artist to perform at the G-Spot.

It was a great show—and the beginning of something I didn’t yet know would eventually lead here.

Years later, it’s pretty special to have Logan’s music as part of WINDe Radio.
