About the Artist

Christopher “CB” McCarty

Christopher “CB” McCarty is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter, guitarist, author, and longtime creative collaborator whose career reaches deep into American rock history. A friend and songwriting partner of Steve Miller, McCarty co-wrote the Steve Miller Band classics “Swingtown” and “Serenade,” beginning a musical relationship that would span multiple Miller albums. His songwriting credits with Miller also extend to later work including songs from Wide River, whose title track was written by McCarty and Miller.

But CB’s story extends well beyond those familiar songs. Over the years he has moved comfortably among rock, folk, Americana, country, acting, film, television, novels, and screenwriting, bringing a storyteller’s sensibility to all of them. His songs have been recorded and performed in a variety of settings, while his screen career has included work in film and television and a role in the Academy Award-winning short film Session Man.

Now based in Nashville, CB continues writing and recording rather than simply looking backward at his classic-rock history. His 2026 collection Canvas of Song brings together original material spanning folk, Americana, pop and rock alongside his own new interpretations of “Serenade” and “Swingtown”—connecting the songs that helped define an extraordinary career with the music he’s still creating today.
