Lucky 757

Lucky 757 is a Portsmouth, Virginia-based rock ’n’ roll quartet carrying forward a musical tradition with deep roots in their own backyard. Formed in 2014 around father-and-son duo Danny and Cory Spivey, the band draws inspiration from the raw energy of 1950s and ’60s rock ’n’ roll, rockabilly, surf, and Americana. With Cory on lead vocals and lead guitar, Danny on rhythm guitar and vocals, Sam Haga on bass, and Angel Lopez on drums, Lucky 757 takes those classic sounds and gives them an identity unmistakably their own.

Coming from the hometown of Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps gives that connection to early rock ’n’ roll some genuine local history, but Lucky 757 has carried the music far beyond Hampton Roads. The band has performed around the country, appeared at events including the Lake Havasu Rockabilly Reunion, Americana Music Fest, Neptune Festival, and the East Coast Surfing Championship, and earned multiple VEER Music Awards. They have also made the pilgrimage to Memphis to record at the legendary Sun Studio, where they captured the appropriately titled Memphis Recording Service: The Sun Session.

More than a decade after forming, Lucky 757 is still recording and performing, with releases ranging from straight-ahead rockabilly to instrumental surf rock and their full-scale Rock ’N Roll Revue. Their latest Bandcamp release, Hey Baby, arrived in 2025. Through it all, the mission remains refreshingly uncomplicated: keep the guitars ringing, keep the rhythm moving, and keep rock ’n’ roll alive.
